Auchindrain

Argyll Coastal Route

Follow the A83 south from Inveraray to Auchindrain, a living museum and Scotland’s last inhabited Highland farming township.

Come and see how life once was for people before the Highland Clearances and take a self-guided tour of Auchindrain, which is still a working farm where you can meet free-range chickens, sheep and Highland cows, as well as the township's cat, Cat Liath.

You can also follow a circular walk between Auchindrain and the village of Furnace, or continue driving south to Crarae Garden, which is home to an impressive collection of beech trees.

You are 18 miles through this 129 mile route
The mileage is estimated for guidance only. Please check exact directions and traffic conditions before you begin your journey
