Woodland walks, adventure playgrounds, wildlife spotting and even an urban farm - and that's just the country park! Dean Castle & Country Park, which covers over 200 acres across Kilmarnock, offers a great family day out. Used as a location in the popular TV series Outlander, Dean Castle has been in the Boyd family for over 400 years and the many artefacts within it chart the family's history and medieval life. Currently under restoration, the castle is due to reopen in Spring 2021 when the artefacts and East Ayrshire's collection of armoury will be housed in The Keep.
