The Library of Innerpeffray
Perthshire Tourist Route
Housed in a charming whitewashed building and founded in 1680, The Library of Innerpeffray is Scotland’s oldest free public lending library and is now a fascinating museum.
Visit the library to learn about its history and see its extensive collection of over 5,000 books, including a handwritten manuscript by Robert Burns and first editions of books written by David Hume and Samuel Johnson. If you have ancestral ties to the area the library is also a font of information, with a borrowing register that dates back centuries.
