The popular seaside town of Largs in North Ayrshire is steeped in a fascinating history with links to the Vikings and the infamous Battle of Largs 1263, which is celebrated at the multi-media Vikingar! attraction and at the annual Largs Viking Festival. Look out for Magnus, the 16ft steel Viking giant that stands proudly on the town's seafront and was created to mark the 750th anniversary of the battle. There are daily sailings between Largs and Millport on the nearby Isle of Cumbrae.
